Toyota commits to UK car manufacturing

The future of Japanese car manufacturing in Britain has been secured into the next decade after Toyota pledged to build the next generation of Auris vehicles at its Derbyshire plant.

The company follows Honda and Nissan in allocating new models to UK plants in spite of the potential disruption of Britain’s impending departure from the EU. Toyota will also use a higher portion of engines from its Deeside plant in north Wales in the next version of the vehicle, it said on Wednesday.
