NA College are pleased to announce the appointment of Christopher Lindridge as Head of Faculty Specialist Skills. This role has been created to lead the specialist skills provision within the NA College Education centre at Spire Road.

With this new venture an opportunity has arisen which NA College has seized with both hands, they will now be delivering the Nissan Maintenance Technician development in partnership with Nissan. An exciting development will be the Level 3 Technician programme. This programme will be the first cohort of learners that will embark upon the programme following the introduction of the Apprenticeship Standards. To ensure that the learners receive the highest level of education investment has been made into the centre, with industry standard Mechanical  Milling, Turning and Bench Fitting equipment installed ready for the new wave of learners. This has been sourced to ensure the learners will be fully competent in the use and safe operation of the level of equipment they will be faced with within the plant.

The focus has been to make the centre a seamless transition between the learners training through to becoming fully qualified Multi skilled technicians. With a close partnership between Nissan and NA College the learners can develop their skills within a controlled environment whilst adopting the Nissan mentality.

The Specialist skills portfolio will also encompass the first cohort of Higher Level Apprentices embarking upon an NVQ Level 4 as part of the Maintenance Technician career path. This is scheduled to begin in October with the first cohort of twenty learners.

These new programmes signify the next chapter within NA College as we continue to be at the forefront of training and education within the automotive sector.
