Art of Manufacturing is a 1-day programme from N.A.College which introduces young children in primary school up to Year 6 at school (aged up to 10 years old) to the world of manufacturing. It comprises of a hands-on Lego production line and hands-on use of manufacturing equipment.

Participants experience teamwork, learn how to improve efficiency, make improvements and build a quality product. They also learn how safety is maintained during production and the equipment used to protect the workforce; they develop manual dexterity as a result.

The Art of Manufacturing programme results in project completion certificates for participants, awards and prizes for them and their schools.

Personally I thought the course was great, for someone that really wanted a career at Nissan. Firstly is was great to meet new colleagues and friends, whom I've kept in touch with even thou they weren't successful, secondly an insight to Nissan itself. Working under ex Nissan supervisors was a real incentive to carry on until the end and more reason to try your best to get the right result, as they spoke professionally of the job in hand, and made it more exciting. They tell you exactly what to expect, what to look forward to and why you should choose Nissan,(for the career). The team building exercises were real fun, and had everyone working together, because that's vital in Nissan. Also working with the skills team was good to, not everyone is up to date on iPads and trusted with iPads for that matter, but helped so much on my application, presentation and preparation ready for every step along the way, and there is a few steps and hurdles to get over along the way, but if you want it that much you don't mind trying your hardest. The work experience was a real test in working relations, you need to trust the man next to you in Nissan and likewise, working under pressure and to targets is a real challenge, but if the teamwork is there then it's half the battle. Thanks for all the help from the skills team after the course was ended, they kept there eyes and ears open for any other positions arising, some that I was unfortunate in getting.
