Recently one of our learners suffered a heart attack sitting in the classroom during a lesson. (our crash team tended to him and he recovered in hospital)

A first aid crash team has been put together for staff and learner wellbeing.

The crash team consists of  (from left to right) Calum Morrissey, Alison Brough, Ian Bell and Sarah Daglish.

The team was set up to become experts in Cardio pulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation.

The team train once every month in simulated CPR scenarios across the college using our training defibrillator and CPR manikins.

Recently two of our team members have achieved their Level 2 qualification in CPR and safe use of a defibrillator through Highfield awarding body of compliance.

NISSAN maintenance Techs and man staff have been trained in level 2 emergency first aid by Ian Bell Health and Safety Officer to help improve their skills and knowledge in first aid should the first aid need arise during their work activities.

All agree that first aid is a vital skill in the workplace and at home.
