Nathan Metcalfe wave 29 from Grindon in Sunderland , had been unemployed for almost three months  when he came on the NAC Group’s pre-employment course. Nathan had previously worked at Calsonic for a short time, but his contract was only short term this was very frustrating as he had always worked and couldn’t wait to get restarted.

Nathan heard about the NAC course through a friend. He took the initiative and contacted Jobcentre Plus in order to join the course.  Nathan completed the course at the NAC training facilities, which are located close to the Nissan plant in Washington. “Everything was enjoyable, I especially enjoyed learning the hand skills and practical elements of the course. The employability sessions were great and gave me a great CV.”

“The tutors were great”, says Nathan “I received great feedback after undertaking the work experience. This gave me a lot of confidence and reassured me that I have many skills to offer an employer.”

Nathan liked the idea of aftercare once the course was finished as he wasn’t left to find work alone, he was asked to attend a diagnostic assessment, then an  interview which he was prepared for, he finished the course at the end of January and started work for Unipres  in mid February.
