Innovation funding for N.A.College from the Flexible Learning Fund
The Flexible Learning Fund supports “innovative” learning providers in getting adults back into a learning environment, so that they may secure new employment or progress in their current job.
N.A College have been awarded funding for developing online/offline packages for Level 1 / 2 Functional Skills English and Maths for Engineering, Manufacturing and Service Sector Workers.
The apps will add a new dimension to delivery of Functional Skills through interactive tablet based training where learners will explore the fundamental skills needed to gain important missing qualifications. The learning content is engaging, making use of current technologies and user interface design. The purpose is deliver training content that will be absorbed and will sit alongside other blended learning and classroom time.
When internet connectivity is an issue (as is often the case in industrial environments), the content is downloaded to the device and then it will synchronize and publish the learner’s responses when internet is again available. The results are then published to the N.A.College Learner Management System for review from assessors. This allows for the learner to undertake the training remotely, whether this be on-the-job training or at home. The learner is only ever one click away from interaction with their assessor.
This funding will be extremely beneficial in allowing N.A.College to develop products to benefit learners that can be rolled out nationally . It is an exciting time for Functional Skills training and for N.A.College’s productivity agenda.
