The maintenance technicians programme at N.A.College is designed to give learners an insight into the maintenance engineering sector within the demands of a high-volume manufacturing environment. Learners of this levy-approved apprenticeship will be involved with a team of maintenance personnel undertaking a combination of mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks.

In the Role

On a daily basis in a maintenance technician role, you could be involved in tasks such as:

  • Organising routine servicing schedules.
  • Checking and calibrating instruments.
  • Fitting new parts as required, or as part of a regular replacement rota.
  • Carrying out quality inspections on jobs.
  • Responding immediately to equipment breakdowns.
  • Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement equipment to be installed.
  • Keeping production managers informed of progress.

This course has been designed to promote the knowledge and skills required to work within a manufacturing environment undertaking maintenance activities. You will develop practical hand skills, theoretical skills and inter personal communication skills whilst learning trade-specific skills whilst at work.

In summary, the maintenance technicians programme is a combination of practical skills learnt whilst at work combined with learning the knowledge elements as part of a college attendance programme.
